Exterity offers products for distributing satellite TV and other video content via IP over networks. Indicative fields of application are healthcare, hospitals, universities, holiday parks, hotels, banking and insurance. Also news distribution to newspapers and news sections of TV channels are offered by Exterity. The video content is being sent to desktop PC’s and TV’s. Exterity solutions provide a good broadcast quality, a reduction of hardware costs and reduced operational costs. With Exterity IPTV you can realise a general cost reduction.
Exterity IPTV system
Channel choice and integration of an IPTV system in an infrastructure influence the costs of a project. We illustrate the options of an IPTV system. An IPTV system enables access to almost all channels, in contrast with the use of cable service companies which are dependent on the channel selections made. The number of channels selected is partially decisive when it comes to costs. One specific frequency can be used by multiple channels. For example, multiple television and radio channels broadcast via frequency 12515. As Canaal Digitaal encoded these channels, special equipment is needed to separate these channels (gateway and Cam module). For the determination of the number of gateways it is necessary to know which channels have been selected for receipt.Canaal Digitaal then decides on the costs per viewer. The costs depend on the channel package chosen by the viewer as well as the number of viewers (junctions) the organisation registered.
Video players
Video content can be viewed on a Windows Media Player or a VLC player, but Exterity also offers a private brand player which is more user friendly.Settop Boxes
For TV application a settop box is needed. These are available in multiple versions, for example with HDMI outputs or versions for older televisions.System maintenance
For complete configuration maintenance, we recommend using the IPTV Manager. With this device, all settop boxes can be displayed in one overview and, if desired, can be switched to a specific channel or be used to adjust sound or (de)activate the settop box.
